OC Power Authority Special Meeting – Thursday, June 2, 2022

The Orange County Power Authority will hold a Special Meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 1:45PM.
There is one business item listed on the agenda and members of the public will be provided an opportunity to provide public comment regarding the following closed session item:
A. Conference with Legal Counsel – Anticipated Litigation
Significant exposure to litigation pursuant to paragraph (2) of subdivision (d) of Section 54956.9: One (1) potential case
The Voice of OC reported,
“City leaders at the head of Orange County’s green power agency are moving to oust their controversial CEO, Brian Probolsky – a politically-connected power broker – just as he’s filed a whistleblower legal letter alleging board members themselves are double-dealing to take over the agency.”
[Read the letter from Probolsky’s attorney to the OCPA]
“Questions surrounding the CEO have only continued to mount following the abrupt resignation of chief operating officer Antonia Castro-Graham last December, a price hike with the agency’s rollout after it was promised it would be cheaper than Southern California Edison, and most recently the California Public Utilities Commission fining the agency $1.9 million for failing to purchase additional electricity required by the state known as resource adequacy.”
The article ended with a statement from Board member and Fullerton City Councilmember Fred Jung,
“There is an employee or two or three that may be at issue here and they should be afforded due process… We owe the employee or employees that concerted due process to have it in closed session.”
The public may soon find out who, in addition to Brian Probolsky, may be at issue.

June 1, 2022 at 6:58 pm$1.962 million fine? Nice start.
Kill the power authority. It’s a sham anyhow and the state already mandates the amount of renewable power that must be purchased by utilities.

June 2, 2022 at 3:10 pmThe meeting this afternoon was called to order at about 1:50pm, however, Farrah Khan, Susan Sonne, and Mike Posey were a “no show” so the meeting was cancelled due to no quorum. Sounds like this organization is having huge management issues and Mike Carroll is playing BOTH sides. So, no business was conducted. Next meeting is scheduled for
