I attended this meeting. The issue Lallowy is responding to is the 4 million dollar upgrade to the city council chambers the plan for which includes putting city council members behind bullet proof plastic, extra police in the audience area, and better cameras that show more of the city council members face, and better sound system for the television filming that allows audience to hear city council members better.
Council member Lalloway was rightfully upset because the itemized cost estimates were not included in the document that the council members got and thus were they located in the public record documents. Council Member Shea and Mayor Wagner engaged in a screaming verbal fight with Lalloway because they did not particularly want the costs in the public record.

I find it ironic that the Council will spend $4MM to put themselves behind glass. A symbol of further divide between them and their constituents.
I ask, why not secure the entire chamber? Protect everyone in the audience too. Metal detector/security screening at one or more of the entrances for each City Council Meeting. IPD is already at the meetings, I can’t imagine the cost would incrementally be much more to have them screen people as they enter.
I can only imagine what it would feel like as they sat protected behind their bullet proof glass encasement while constituents in the audience are gunned down. I guess they really don’t want public speakers.

Spending $4M on bulletproofing the city council members is ridiculous. Shea, Fox. and Wagner can Skype into the meetings if they are so fearful of facing the residents. Our judges don’t even have this protection! How about spending the $4M on protecting our students? Thank you Jeff Lalloway for once again pushing back on another costly and deceptive move by Shea and Wagner.

There is not one bullet proof window or door at any Irvine public school. I don’t think that there is any bullet proof stage protection anywhere in Irvine: not one church or synagoge, no stage at any school or University or amphitheater or bank teller bullet proof protection. This expense is completely wasteful and the council should be ashamed of the message it is sending. Cancel the contract

This is another example of career politicians relying on the complacent public to not ask questions or demand information. Spending $4M on bulletproofing their meeting space is not only ridiculous and unnecessary but it shows that officials like Shea, Fox and Wagner are just taking care of themselves. What could they possibly gain from this? Oh, perhaps kickbacks from the construction company? Someone needs to look into this and Lalloway gets a big attaboy for going after them. Why doesn’t HE have access to those records? We need to be more vigilant and this website is a great find!!!

I would love to hear what Christina Shea, Melissa Fox, and Donald Wagner have to say about not giving the public ALL the information in city counsel meetings. They pick and choose what to put in the minutes … is that legal? All three need to go! They are so corrupt! I give thanks to Lalloway who really seems to want to do the right thing and is getting stopped at every turn. Is there anything illegal that is going on that can get one, two, or all three out of office? And who is the oversight for city council members?
