Planning Commission to Consider More Homes, Parks, and Day Care Site Near Asphalt Plant

This Thursday, October 21, 2021, the Planning Commission will be deciding whether or not to approve an additional 520 homes, two private neighborhood parks, and a day care site, near the All American Asphalt plant despite years of resident concerns over emissions and odors.
According to the staff report, there are currently 3,439 units entitled or constructed within the planning area. With the additional 520 future dwelling units under consideration, the total residential development in PA 1 would be 3,959 units, which is within the dwelling unit cap.
Should our city approve additional homes near the All American Asphalt plant? Weigh in this Thursday at 5:30PM.

October 19, 2021 at 12:34 pmSeeking this approval now is brash, arrogant, and a slap in the face to the residents who care more for the health and wellbeing of our residents than our elected officials.

October 19, 2021 at 3:30 pmUnfortunately, this is in the middle of the odor plume, based on reports from residents in surrounding neighborhoods. (Each red circle is an asphalt odor event. The blue circle is a non-asphalt odor event.) bit.ly/irvineair

October 20, 2021 at 12:55 pm520 single family homes 2/3 of a mile from the asphalt plant. Homes that will undoubtedly all be prices well into seven figures. Homes that will also be located in an area more vulnerable to fires than many Irvine neighborhood. I’m not seeing the need for this project. What Irvine lacks is workforce housing.

October 23, 2021 at 1:30 pmWe have a massive housing shortage, right? Everyone agree?
The only way to not have a housing shortage is – build more homes.
520 is a good start. Each city needs to pitch in with 1000’s more.
