Thank You, Thank You!

We hope you enjoyed our first ever Irvine Watchdog Irvine City Council Candidate Forum – by residents, for residents. For those who missed it, you can watch the forum here:

Now, to the many thanks…

To everybody who submitted questions, thank you! The candidates were asked questions that were submitted by you via our survey, and we made sure to cover all the top issues/questions that mattered most to you! None of the questions were given to any of the candidates before the forum.

To make our event as fair to all the candidates as possible, each candidate drew a number that determined their table for the Meet & Greet and their seat on stage.

To all the dedicated volunteers who spent countless hours planning, coordinating, and collaborating to make the event a success, we couldn’t have done it without you! From making signs, attending meetings, making phone calls, to helping move tables, we are grateful for your time in serving our community.

Thank you to the award-winning investigative reporter who founded the Voice of OC, Norberto Santana, Jr., for moderating our event and for the good investigative work the Voice of OC does on behalf of our county.

To all the student/resident/community groups (Irvine High School Mock Trial Club, Irvine H.S. and University H.S. Journalism Clubs, Indivisible OC Outreach, Protect Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course Coalition, and Citizens’ Climate Lobby) who came out to help educate and inform, thank you for showing us what it looks like to be civically engaged. And special thanks to Bree Sammartino (Photographer from El Vaquero, Irvine H.S.) and Sabrina Huang (Editor in Chief of Sword & Shield,  Uni. H.S.) for taking these photos!

To all the news/media organizations that came out including KPCC Southern California Public Radio, the Voice of OC, Irvine Community News and Views, The Liberal OC, and the Irvine High School and University High School journalism clubs, thank you for your dedicated work in keeping us informed and aware of issues that impact us all.

Thank you to Irvine Auto Center for advertising our forum on your big screen!

And last but not least, thank you to the 2018 Irvine City Council Candidates for coming out to meet the 250+ voters who wanted to hear your position on the issues. Irvine Watchdog especially thanks all the candidates who attended our event, for signing the Code of Fair Campaign Practices, vowing to follow the basic principles of decency, honesty, and fair play – values we as Irvine Watchdog are committed to.

Informed voters are the best voters. Thank you all for coming out! We hope you found it informative and helpful in determining which candidates align with your personal positions and values. And be sure to vote this November 6, 2018! There’s a lot at stake for our city’s future!
