Veterans Cemetery Update: No Money to Study Golf Course Site

Wondering what the status is on the State Veterans Cemetery at the Golf Course Site?
At the February 25, 2020 Great Park Board meeting, Mayor Shea explained that the study of the golf course site has not even begun. According to Mayor Shea, the $500k needed for the study of the golf course site has not been allocated by the state. The budget deadlines were due last week, which leaves us asking the question, when will the site be studied? Time is of the essence.
Please listen to the explanation by Mayor Shea. Thank you for this important update.
Background
Eight months ago on July 23, 2019, the City Council adopted a resolution designating the City’s preferred site for the development and operation of the State Veterans Cemetery as the golf course site in the Great Park. This location was approved at the Special Joint Meeting of the City Council with the Orange County Great Park Board by vote of 4-1 (Yes: Councilmembers Shea, Carroll, Khan, Kuo; No: Councilmember Fox ). Please see the July 23, 2019 meeting Minutes here.
On August 13, 2019, the City Council rezoned the original cemetery site (ARDA) for other uses including commercial. See meeting Minutes here.
