Voice of OC – Irvine Takes No Action on Veterans Cemetery, Opening Door for Possible Anaheim Site

The Voice of OC covered the marathon Irvine City Council meeting that started on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 4PM and ended on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at almost 1:00AM.
“After hours of discussion, the Irvine City Council early Wednesday opted against picking a site for a veterans cemetery in the city, effectively ending nearly a decade’s worth of debate and planning with council members not taking a vote on the issue.”

Irvine Takes No Action on Veterans Cemetery, Opening Door for Possible Anaheim Site
The real winner may ultimately be Five Point which has the first right of refusal for the purchase of the ARDA site.
Will the City keep title to the property until the Veterans’ Cemetery is officially located outside of Irvine?
Will the city take legal action to remove the land use requirement when/if the Cemetery is located elsewhere?
What will the city do with the ARDA property?

June 24, 2021 at 2:30 pmThe winner? OC’s Vets! We have finally been released from a long captivity in Irvine. You may continue your Agranista spite-fight bickering with developers without us. Veterans will no longer be the pitchfork for your manure pile of FivePoint hate. Join us July 1 at Gypsum Canyon for our regional celebration and and rally.

June 27, 2021 at 9:31 pmToo bad it’s just going to be a cemetery and NOT with a Memorial Park. And it’s a shame you can’t take your win with some class. The people that stood for the ARDA site had no influence of money, unlike FARRAH KHAN, ANTHONY KUO and the thief, MIKE CARROLL. Speaking of, Carroll said this issue has been going on before he was on the council and he didn’t have an option one way or the other. And he “claims” to be a Vet? And FARRAH KHAN’s pre-written speech tells you how much she cares what the 63% of residents wanted! This majority council couldn’t even get a Veteran’s Memorial Park and Cemetery constructed…KHAN has no leadership and no desire of working with the people…she is on this council for one reason…to promote her socialist agenda and get rewarded by her country!

June 27, 2021 at 9:47 pmThe ARDA site will be leased to FivePoint and the Great Park Community will now be overlooking apartment homes and commercial buildings! And their children best beware when they are out on their bikes because they will have a lot of traffic to deal with. And don’t expect to have a say of what gets put there either. You don’t even know what your “extra” taxes are going towards. But hey, these anti-American people didn’t want a Veteran’s Memorial Park and Cemetery in Irvine from the beginning and KHAN used them to get what she was TOLD to do. I hope someone sues the City for not obeying their own laws in the zoning agreement that was approved last year! See how long it can tie up the VMPC until these majority council members are GONE!

June 29, 2021 at 7:58 am“…. create a new zoning designation for the approximately 125.5 acres of city-owned land near the intersection of Pusan and Irvine Boulevard where Cemetery Uses will be permitted” That’s your law. You are permitted to build your Fusco designed “VMP&C on M-cas”, but your law does not exactly require it. Nothing to stop you now. Larry sez he can build it with Irvine money cheaper and quicker that CalVet. And you can still carry on your fight with FivePoint over the Amended and Restated Development Agreement Transfer Site. But your OC Vets have left town for Anaheim and taken the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VETERANS CEMETERY with us.
