Announcement: Meeting This Afternoon (1/31) for Major Newport Beach Project that Will Affect Irvine Traffic

For those interested in traffic in Irvine, you should know about the meeting in Newport Beach’s Planning Commission this afternoon (January 31) at 4:30pm. It concerns the possible construction of three towers in Newport Beach that could dramatically increase traffic on Jamboree Road. The three towers are to be located on Von Karman Avenue and Birch Street close to John Wayne Airport.

Please read the message below from ProtectNB.org. Note the developer involved is Irvine-based Shopoff Realty Investments.

High-Rise Condo Towers are NOT What Residents Want
Dear Supporter:
The massive Koll Residences project will be previewed by the Planning Commission tomorrow (Thursday, January 31st) at City Hall (100 Civic Center Drive) at 4:30pm.
Please attend the meeting to speak against the project or to show your opposition to the development of high-rise condo towers in Newport Beach.
The project proposes three 15-story (160 feet tall) condo towers and a five story parking structure, creating more than 1,200 additional vehicle trips per day. The developer has hired a team of lobbyists to push the project and they are ludicrously claiming that high-rise condo towers are “what Newport residents want.”
Our coalition of residents, community organizations, and businesses continues to fight the project and advocate for better planning that truly reflects the wishes of residents. We strongly believe in preserving quality of life in Newport Beach.
If you have specific questions about the project or how you can participate in helping stop it, please email us. Your participation can make the difference.
