Irvine is Updating its Urban Forest Plan: Comments Welcomed
Irvine is taking comments on its new Urban Forest plan. A survey on this plan, part of the City outreach, needs to be completed by July 18th.
“The City is developing a 30-year Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP), which contains measurable goals and recommended actions to help the City achieve 30% canopy cover and realize our ideal urban forest by 2055.”— City of Irvine
Following are some of the benefits, as stated by the EPA, that trees provide:
- Reduced energy use and lower greenhouse gas emissions
- Improved air quality
- Enhanced stormwater management and water quality
- Improved quality of life
- Wildlife habitat
- Improved equity
- Higher property values
