2020 City Election: Potential Candidates and Money Raised

The Irvine General Municipal election is on November 3, 2020, and deadlines for candidates are fast approaching.

Nomination Period

Candidates seeking to run for mayor have until August 7, 2020 to return their nomination papers. Candidates seeking to run for city council have until August 12, 2020 to return their nomination papers. Here is a look at the unofficial candidate list as of Sunday, August 2. Irvine Watchdog will share the official candidate list once the nomination period is closed.

Semi-Annual Campaign Finance Report (Jan 1 – Jun 30, 2020)

Candidates with an open campaign committee between January 1 – June 30, 2020, and who raised or spent $2,000 or more, were required to file a Semi-Annual Campaign Report (Form 460) which was due on July 31, 2020. This report discloses all money, loans, goods and services received, as well as expenditures made in connection with the candidate’s campaign. The public can view the reports and research the campaign contributions for candidates online at the City Clerk’s website.
