Branda Lin is an Irvine native and a founding member of Irvine Watchdog. She is passionate about civic engagement and empowering residents on local Irvine issues. She currently serves on the Irvine Planning Commission, Cypress Village Elementary PTA, Jeffrey Trail Middle School PTSA, and is a Central Committee Member of the Democratic Party of Orange County. Kind of a meaningless statistic. At this level of government party doesn’t mean too much. Integrity is what counts and I have see officials from both parties fail to live up to that quality.

Thank you Irvine Watchdog for coverage of our local elections and candidates!
I’d like to share that my voter registration/record for 2019 and years prior was in a different county, before moving back to Irvine. I’m so grateful to participate in the democratic process of elections in our country, as a consistent voter and now as a candidate for City Council District 1.

There is no excuse not to have participated in more than one election, especially given the stakes in recent years — especially by a candidate for elected office.

Critical elections that Mr. Go did not participate in:
2016: where non-voters gave the United States one of the worst presidents in history
2018: where every congressional Democrat needed every vote to flip our congressional delegation from red to blue
2020: primary for who the democratic nominee for president would be
2021: Gavin Newsom’s recall election
2022: a critical election where Katie Porter had the most difficult general election campaign due to a more Republican electorate and a new district
2024: didn’t even bother to vote in the primary for our open Senate seat and our open congressional district to replace Katie Porter.
Why should anyone give Mr. Go their votes, when he’s refused to give his?

William Go, a supposed Democrat, does not vote. I take great issue when a candidate trying to represent a constituency does not even participate in our Democratic process. Why run for elected office?
