Information for these charts was gathered from candidates’ Form 460 filings with the City of Irvine on 10/25/18. A redacted version of the complete file can be viewed here.
Information on the financial contributions of Political Action Committees (PAC) was gathered from the City of Irvine website as well as the California Secretary of State filings.
Dr. Kev Abazajian shows strong support from individuals and some from businesses. More importantly, he shows no contributions from developers or PACs.
Gang Chen shows modest support from individuals and businesses. He has no contributions this year from developers or PACs.
David Chey has no financial contributions at the time of this article.
Lauren Johnson-Norris shows strong support from individuals and businsses. She has taken some money from developers through their lobbyist Patrick Strader. Read this article for more information.
Farrah Khan shows strong support from individuals and businesses. She has no donations from developers or PACs.
Anthony Kuo financial statements show a huge contribution from developers and PACs. More can be read in this article and this article. He shows strong support from individuals and businesses but their contributions are still dwarfed by the PACs.
Frank McGill shows decent support from individuals and no money from developers or PACs.
Mark Newgent shows a small contribution from individuals and none from developers or PACs.
Carrie O’Malley financial statements show a huge contribution from developers and PACs. More can be read in this article and this article. She shows decent support from individuals but it’s still dwarfed by the PAC money.
John Park’s contributors appear to be solely individuals from the city of Irvine. However, it is worth noting that 70% of his financing is his own money.
