Vote No on C
Currently it takes three Irvine City Council members to approve placing revenue-generating measures on the ballot for vote by the city residents. Measure C would change the required number of City Council members to four.
If this measure is approved the City of Irvine will find itself in the same position that the state is in, budget adjustments and initiatives cannot get passed because a super-majority is required.
Requiring a super-majority of city council members gives more power to the council to decide what residents can and cannot vote upon. Retaining a simple majority threshold means the residents in Irvine who are eligible to vote will always have a venue to make their voices heard.
Irvine residents should always have the final voice! Vote “NO” on Measure C
